Watercolor Sketching WorkShop

This half-day workshop will cover all basic concepts of sketching, gesture drawing, pen and ink, and watercolor. The class will provide students the foundation needed to establish a daily sketching practice. Students will head outside to work on how to capture buildings and people, build a loose sketch, add ink and finish with watercolor.

All students will be supplied with a watercolor travel set, water brush pen, fine line Sharpie and a small watercolor sketchbook to keep. Snacks are provided, and participants are encouraged to bring their own lunch.

Watercolor Sketching Class

Let's get sketchy! Saturday Morning Art

4 week series geared toward kids 6-12 years of age.  The classes will incorporate a blend of art history, art appreciation, and technique. All supplies included. 

10:00am-11:30pm ($25 per class or all 4 classes for $80)

Classes will be held at the Cleveland WorkSpace

8/6 Week 1 - Big Flowers - We learn about basic color theory and composition. We will look at Georgia O’Keeffe’s flowers and how they dominate the page. Then we will create our own large flower pictures.

8/20 Week 2 - Movement in the Sky - We will learn a little bit about post-impressionism and work with oil pastels to re-create our own version of Starry Night.

9/10 Week 3 - The artist who painted herself - We will talk about the art of self portrait specifically focusing on the work of Frida Kahlo.  Then we will do self-portraits of our own.

9/24 Week 4 - Pollack - Let’s Get messy!  A discussion of modern art and a look at the work of Jackson Pollack.  We will make a collaborative abstract art work.  This class will get messy!!

Pop-up art and print sale this Thursday during the MainStreen Cleveland's farmer's market at the Old Woolen Mill. I will have prints and a few older paintings heavily discounted, as well as a few new works that will be on display. This is a great time to shop for art or just to stop by and check out my new space.

Watercolor Class at Mash & Hops in Ceveland, TN

Watercolor class on recycled books pages. There will be step by step instructions for creating two watercolor flowers. I will also include information on how to prep alternative surfaces to take paint and general watercolor information. The class is will 1.5 hour and is $15 per person which includeds all supplies. Mash & Hops will be open so you can fill up your growlers and/or by a glass of beer (beer and painting go great together!).

Come and learn the basics of keeping a sketchbook full of quick studies of the world around you.

During this two hours class we will focus on sketching buildings in Cleveland.  We will cover the process of drafting with pencil, adding ink and then a watercolor wash.  This class will break down the sketch process. 

Basic supplies will be provided but we will also cover setting up a sketch bag as well as some preferred supplies for sketching in the field.
