the art of jaime barks

Jaime Barks grew up roaming the foothills of the Smoky Mountains. Those countless hours she spent wandering the woods as a child are evident in her work.  She currently lives and works in southeast Tennessee and has a strong naturalistic element in her paintings.  She shies away from realism in favor of art that focuses on symbolism to convey complex feelings and emotions through imagery of trees, nature and the sea.  She loves to capture her daily life through paintings and sketches. Jaime is a primarily self taught artist. Most days you can find her outside or at work in her studio located in a turn of the century wool mill.

Jaime loves to share snippets of her art and life on Instagram.  You can find her at @jaimebarks.

Jaime has paintings and prints available for sale at the Museum Center gift store in Cleveland, TN. She also painted a mural under the 20th Street Bridge on the Bradley/Cleveland Greenway.
